Winter doesn’t stop Russian attacks in Ukraine. Heavy Russian attacks also in Donetsk and Luhansk.

More Russian bombs in the area of the Ukrainian nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhia: gas pipelines and power grids damaged.

Ukrainian war, winter worsen the situation of civilians

Russian President Vladimir Putin ‘is trying to use winter as a weapon, to turn off the light, turn off the heating, plunge the Ukrainian people into darkness and cold just when the winter months are coming. This is truly barbaric’.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said this in an interview with CNN. “Putin tried to wipe Ukraine off the map, erase its identity, incorporate it back into Russia, but he failed,” Blinken said, adding that Putin then “engaged in an attempt to take territory in eastern Ukraine and the south. This attempt is also failing because the Ukrainian army has pushed back and retaken much of the territory’.

Blinken then reiterated his support for Kiev and emphasised the effective impact of sanctions against Russia.

No electricity and heating in many parts of Ukraine

A total of 507 villages in eight Ukrainian regions are without power supply. This was reported by Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Yevgeny Enin, as reported by Rbc-Ukraine.

Yenin explained that the Russians continue to hit critical infrastructure, causing problems in the power grid.

In particular, the most affected regions are Kharkiv, with 112 localities without electricity, followed by Donetsk and Kherson with over 90 localities without power. Also 82 settlements in Nikolaev, 76 in Zaporizhzhia and 43 in Luhansk remain ‘in the dark’.

After being liberated, Kherson continues to be bombarded by Russian artillery. Missiles rain down on buildings and infrastructure. The city, in southern Ukraine, was hit by Russian raids 46 times in a single day. This was announced on Telegram by Kyrylo Tymoshenko, number two in the Ukrainian presidential office.

The proximity to the front line makes everything much more difficult for Ukrainians who have not fled the city, especially trying to regain a semblance of normal life even though essential services are lacking and winter is coming.

Zelensky, “Putin is using winter as a weapon”

President Volodymyr Zelensky, in his usual message, reiterated that the enemy, namely Moscow, hopes to use winter against the people of Ukraine to turn frost and hardship into terror.

We must do everything to survive, Zelensky stressed no matter how hard it is. We will endure. We will endure everything. Russia still has missiles and an advantage in artillery. But we have something that the occupier does not have and will not have. We will always protect our homeland and this gives us and will always give us strong motivation’.
