Ukraine at the World Economic Forum, the speech of the First Lady Olena Zelenska

“This war can go on and make the crisis worse if we don’t stop Russia”. These the words of the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, in her speech at the ongoing World Economic Forum in Davos.

Greeted by warm applause, Zelenska addressed delegates in Ukrainian with dramatic words:

“We are facing the collapse of the world as we know it. In what world are we in where tanks can hit nuclear power plants? What happens to inflation when state borders begin to collapse? And what happens to the cost of living when tens of millions of people are forced to flee starvation and become refugees?”

Addressing the audience in attendance, Zelenska also said:

“You are all united by the fact that you are really influential people. But not all of you are using this influence, or sometimes you are using it in a way that is even more divisive.”

She then announced that she had delivered letters from her husband to several leaders present at Davos, including Chinese Vice Premier Liu He. President Zelensky himself will hold a speech remotely via videoconference in the next hours.
