The smartphone of the future will unlock with your breath: here is how

Let's forget about the code, the fingerprint and the facial recognition, the smartphones of the future will unlock with your breath.

Let’s forget about the code, the fingerprint and the facial recognition, the smartphones of the future will unlock with your breath. Here’s how the next phones will work and what this innovation will be used for.

The smartphones of the future

Innovations are now the order of the day and for this reason we are no longer surprised by anything. Smartphones certainly fall into the category of products that have grown the most in recent years, also due to their constant use which leads to investments.

The larger brands don’t want to be left behind, while the smaller ones are chasing after, carving out their own share of the market. What is certain is that they have now reached a purely utopian state of functionality only until a few years ago.

Innovation, however, will not stop here, and so between the implementation of artificial intelligence and new discoveries, the future of smartphones will be yet to be discovered. For a few years now, the unlock code has been replaced by the fingerprint, which was soon overwhelmed by facial recognition and is now ready to give way to a new unlock method: breathing.

A new revolution ready to enter the lives of millions of users who will thus be able to benefit from it with all the advantages that it can bring. Here’s how it will work and why it will be a positive discovery.

The smartphone of the future will unlock with your breath

As we anticipated in the previous paragraph, the smartphones of the future will unlock with your breath. In fact, it must be considered that each individual has a unique way of letting air out of the mouth, and this is due to the always different conformation of the pharynx, the larynx, the paranasal cavities and the airways.

For this reason, this uniqueness could lead to this new and revolutionary method of unlocking phones, making our devices even more secure given that they have now become vulnerable with the current methods.

The discovery can be traced back to a team of Indian scientists from the Madras Institute of Technology in Chennai, who, almost by chance, began studying the breathing data recorded by an air speed sensor.

The aim was to find out if these could be read by artificial intelligence so as to improve the recognition of some breathing difficulties, with the consequent process of creating new, more effective drugs.

The research involved 94 volunteers of both sexes and ten consecutive breaths of each were recorded. The result was surprising: based on the speed of emission, the experts understood whose breath it was with an accuracy of 97%.

Greater safety, even post-mortem

What would this innovative discovery bring to future phones? That smartphones could be even more secure, and this is because unlocking could only be done while the person is still alive.

Therefore, in the event of death the phone would maintain hermetic security, given that breathing is unique and inimitable and cannot be replicated in any way.

This is certainly a revolutionary discovery that will most likely take hold in the future, we will see when the major brands decide to adopt it.
