1. Burj Khalifa, Dubai – 828 m (2,717 ft)

The top 1 spot for the tallest building in the world goes to Burj Khalifa. In 2010, officials opened the building to the public, and since then, people have visited Dubai to marvel at the architecture.

The Burj Khalifa, a sanctum of advanced architecture, comprises 163 floors hosting numerous high-end restaurants, expensive apartments, and corporate offices. This Middle Eastern infrastructure is twice as tall as the Empire State Building in the US. 

2. Shanghai Tower, Shanghai – 632 m (2,073 ft)

This tower in China lands at the top 2 positions. The building has 128 floors, and 5 are located below ground.

The 2nd tallest tower was designed by an architectural firm called Gensler, and it once made a record for having the fastest elevator in the world with a speed of 20.5 meters per second, but it was soon surpassed. Shanghai Tower constitutes some cafés, rental spaces and stunning rooftop gardens tempting one to pay a visit at least once. 

3. Makkah Royal Clock Tower, Месса – 601 m (1,972 ft)

This controversial tower in Mecca bags the spot of being the 3rd largest building in the world. The controversy stems from the tower occupying the site where a former Ottoman tower was previously destroyed.

Nevertheless, this construction of the building has cost about $15 billion, making it one of the most expensive projects ever made. 

4. Ping An Finance Center, Shenzhen – 599.1 m (1,965 ft)

Although it is the 4th tallest building in the world, Ping An Finance Center is the tallest in Shenzhen. The New York-based architectural firms are responsible for designing this marvellous building.

Its conference podium has enough space to accommodate 25,00 people. This towering architectural figure is made out of steel and glass. 

5. Lotte World Tower, Seoul – 554.5 m (1,819 ft)

A renowned architectural firm based in New York, Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, designed the tallest building in Seoul. The Lotte World Tour houses a Korean folk museum, high-end hotels, a theme park and shopping malls.

One of the interesting facts about this tower is that although the construction was planned in the late 20th century, the construction wasn’t started until November 2010. 

6. One World Trade Center, New York City – 541.3 m (1,776 ft)

Popularly known as the Freedom Tower, it is the tallest building in the whole Western Hemisphere. This center reached completion in the year 2014, boasting 94 floors.

A fascinating fact about this building is if one wants to travel from the ground floor to the 102 floor, one can do so in a mere 60 seconds. 

7. Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre, Guangzhou – 530 m (1,739 ft)

Standing tall in Guangzhou city of China, this building comprises 111 floors consisting of office spaces, hotels, conference rooms and residential quarters.

One of its many unique features is that the 111th floor is the highest observation deck in the world. Using materials like glass and terra cotta, we designed the building to make it more environmentally friendly.

8. Tianjin CTF Finance Centre, Tianjin – 530 m (1,739 ft)

This magnificent building houses 97 floors where a five-star hotel, luxury apartments and office spaces make up most of it. The builders constructed the building in such a way that it gives it the potential to withstand earthquakes.

9. CITIC Tower, Beijing – 528 m (1,732 ft)

This tower in bustling Beijing also goes by China Zun. An internationally famous architectural firm, Arup, is well known for its headquarters here. The building consists of 109 floors and invokes a sense of admiration from the viewer.

10. TAIPEI 101, Taipei – 508 m (1,667 ft)

The reason for naming this building as Taipei 101 is its 101 floors. The previous name of this building was Taipei World Financial Center.

The building houses numerous office spaces, retail outlets and one of the fastest elevators. A renowned C.Y Lee and Partners constructed the building, and the construction cost summed up to $1.9 billion.
